Stuart Olson is currently seeking a E&I Quality Control Inspector for our client site in Fort McMurray for a May 23rd/2023 start date anticipating to end August 2023. Working a 10 on, 4 off pre-turnaround schedule followed by a turnaround schedule of 6 on, 1 off. Camp accommodations provided. Flights provided from Edmonton or Calgary hubs.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to Stuart Olson’s Quality Management System.
  • Prepare the Inspection and Test Plans (ITP’s) ensuring all quality control activities are identified, hold/witness points set and approvals obtained from the Client and AI as required.
  • Review and release all technical documentation (drawings, specifications, etc.) for work execution.
  • Complete inspection and testing activities as directed by the Quality Superintendent.
  • Compile data on Stuart Olson Quality check sheets as well as client check sheets if required.
  • Review data obtained during inspection and testing activities to ensure conformity with company and client specifications and procedures.
  • Control of nonconforming materials.
  • Assist with the identification, control and resolution of nonconforming product and services.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of government and industry codes and standards.
  • Ensure all test equipment has up to date calibration certificates
  • Maintain a record of current red lines drawings.
  • Conducts walk downs of construction systems to check for construction completion and turnover availability
  • Participate in audits of the Quality Management System.
  • Ensure compliance with client specifications and the applicable codes and standards.
  • Ensure all inspections required by the PQP and ITPs are completed and documented appropriately.
  • Prepare turnover documentation for Stuart Olson self-performed work and oversee the execution and quality of SOII subcontractor ITP’s and turnover.

Qualifications

  • Red Seal Journeyman Electrician Certification or Red Seal Journeyman Instrumentation Technician Certification
  • 4 years’ QA/QC experience working in industrial/construction/ maintenance industry
  • Technical certifications
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret legal terminology found in such documents as contracts, government regulations and technical codes or standards
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Excellent computer skills with a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of products
  • Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities; capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, troubleshooting, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a positive attitude

Working Conditions

  • Working both indoors and outdoors in hot weather conditions
  • Working in and around noise and dust
  • Must be clean shaven
  • Coveralls, safety glasses/goggles, hard hat and gloves are provided
  • CSA approved steel-toed safety boots will be required

  • Stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Climbing stairs/ladders regularly
  • Ability to lift loads up to 25kg
