HOURLY RATE $27.8064 to $30.9408 per hour, Pay Grade 2 – Schedule “A” Inside Employees

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Public Works or designate, the Public Works Clerk is the primary customer service
contact to the public and undertakes and is responsible for a variety of duties providing administrative support to
a multi-disciplinary department. The Public Works Clerk works closely with the general public and staff,
regarding Public Works related activities and/or concerns. The incumbent is expected to act on his/her own
initiative in dealing with the relatively complex nature of the day-to-day business of the Public Works
Department

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION

  • Grade 12 Diploma or GED
  • Business Administration Diploma, or equivalent


LICENSES / CERTIFICATES

  • Valid Class five (5) BC Driver’s License
  • WHMIS
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods

EXPERIENCE
• Three (3) to Five (5) years’ experience including:

o Data Entry
o Timekeeping
o Receptionist/Secretarial
o Word Processing/Spreadsheet Applications
o Mobile Radio
o Labour and Equipment Cost Analysis

SPECIFIC SKILLS
• Demonstrated ability to exercise considerable tact, courtesy and diplomacy in dealing with members of

the public, other agencies and staff
  • Quick and accurate data entry
  • Demonstrated knowledge of database systems, data input, maintenance of files and report production
  • Understand basic accounting principles and daily journal activities
  • Good working knowledge of accounting software
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • High degree of initiative and sound judgement
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to perform all of the duties outlined in a safe manner following established City

policies and procedures; WorkSafeBC; WHIMIS and TDG
