Project Officer (100%) One Year Term Position

JOB DESCRIPTION: Working under the direction of the Manager of Facilities and Future Development, this position is involved with the design, tendering and inspection of maintenance and renovation projects. Projects may involve architectural, structural, mechanical, and civil work.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of a diploma in Architectural technology or other related discipline or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience including building trades involved with maintenance and construction.
• Experience in design work at the capacity of a certified technologist or supervisory/ inspector experience in a trades capacity.
• Ability to prepare project estimates, reports, designs, drawings and specifications.
• Ability to research codes and standards related to building construction and to work independently with minimum direction to develop creative designs and solve technical problems.
• Knowledge of codes and bylaws and engineering/architectural/construction practices related to buildings and grounds.
• Two or three years previous experience with building/infrastructure maintenance.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Proficiency with CAD drafting programs and other computer applications such as MS Excel, Word,

Filemaker Pro, Vectorworks and Microsoft Project.

• Previous experience in Energy Conservation and Preventive Maintenance would be a definite asset.

SALARY: $29.49 per hour

START DATE: January 5, 2023 to approx. November 7, 2023
