Job description

Vesta Marble fabricates and installs natural and engineered stone, custom-built kitchens, and bathroom cabinetry. We are accredited by the Natural Stone Institute and have been in business for nearly 40 years.

We are looking for an effective and influential communicator, adept at managing and organizing trades, and who has a thorough understanding of residential and commercial construction.

The successful candidate will be comfortable managing the customer experience and relationship, while ensuring an active portfolio of ongoing projects move successfully through their lifecycle to completion – from quote to approval, to execution and final inspection.

Attention to detail and an entrepreneurial spirit are required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and update time schedule of projects to ensure projects are completed within established deadlines;
  • Oversee and participate in contract negotiations as required with vendors and senior staff;
  • Monitor cost and quality of the work to ensure high standards are met;
  • Plan and coordinate with engineers, architects, trades, vendors, and clients;
  • Collaborate with Estimators in preparation of tender packages, including scope of work for all trades to minimize scope gaps;
  • Communicate the status on all projects to management while leading direct communications with clients;
  • Anticipate and resolve project issues and advise management of potential problems;
  • Understand and enforce contract documents;
  • Manage change orders throughout the duration of the project, including negotiating, assessing cost and schedule impact;
  • Attend project progress meetings, ensure minutes are prepared/reviewed and distributed;
  • Assist in securing building permits, occupancy, and licenses when required;
  • Liaise and coordinate with site personnel;
  • Ability to participate in claims/dispute negotiations with trade contractors and other third parties;
  • Participate in overall project closeout, including warranty manuals, deficiencies;
  • Maintain continuous interaction with site manager, estimators, project coordinators and sub-trades; and
  • Handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Construction Management or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience working in a construction coordination/project management role.
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction drawings, specifications and documentation.
  • Exceptional work ethic & excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills including planning and prioritizing.
  • Effective customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Capable of identifying risks and mitigating exposure to risk/loss.
  • Comfortable in a pressurized, time-sensitive environment.
  • Experience running multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office products: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Project.
  • PMP Certification will be considered a strong asset.
