Reporting to the Project Director, the Project Controls Specialist will work with the construction execution team, along with the estimating team to develop a robust and accurate baseline schedule and workface plan. The successful candidate will also be responsible for job-set up, workface planning, development of advanced work packaging plans, and field installation work packages.

This position is based in Port Hope, Ontario.
Responsibilities
  • Review and analysis of contract documents to develop well-defined, realistic construction schedules, including preliminary schedules, during the procurement phase.
  • Work collaboratively with the Engineering, Construction, and Estimating teams to refine and develop the preliminary baseline / master level 4 / 5 schedule in accordance with the contract documents and further detailing the sequence of all work to be performed.
  • Support development of the most effective tracking process and mechanisms to be utilized during the construction phase.
  • Develop and maintain an AWP plan and master index, while supporting the team to generate and track the completion of field installation work packages
  • Develop a robust project control plan to monitor engineering / design, delineation, and construction execution progress and performance (set target KPIs), through methods of earned-value-management and pull-planning
  • Analyze, trend and track project progress; communicate the progress to the project team and to the client.
  • Track and document schedule impacts and assist with delay analysis.
  • Communicate the reasons for schedule variances and propose work-around plans.
  • Prepare a final report for the project team highlighting successes and failures encountered throughout construction for inclusion within the project closeout and lessons learned report.
What We Are Looking For
  • Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar and a minimum 5 years of experience in a similar position
  • Strong Primavera P6 and MS Project skills
  • Strong knowledge of earned-value-management and advanced work packaging
  • Must be familiar with the entire construction process from procurement, construction, close-out, equipment, installation, and commissioning activities
  • Solid knowledge of building construction methods and techniques
  • Must be able to work consistently at a fast pace and on multiple assignments concurrently
