Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager Professional Practice, Skin and Wound and Student Placements, the Professional Practice Lead is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of systems that support professional practice for all of the regulated health professions as defined by Regulated Health Professionals Act (RHPA).
The Professional Practice Lead will also provide leadership for identified areas of expertise within the Professional Practice portfolio; they will lead the team in implementing best practices utilizing the patient and family centred care philosophy with both internal and external partners.
Qualifications
  • Regulated Health Professional in good standing with their regulatory college.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Minimum three years recent, within the past three years,acute care clinical experience.
  • Minimum one year recent, within the past three years, experience in a professional practice leadership role, preferred.
  • Minimum one year recent, within the past three years, experience in providing clinical education and change management support utilizing adult education principles and evidence-based practice preferred.
  • Membership in professional role-related association preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of interprofessioanl collaboration and education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable legislative such as the Public Hospitals Act and the Regulated Health Professional’s Act required.
  • Proven experience of in the application of project management concepts, knowledge translation and change management required.
  • Proven experience in needs assessment, analytical, problem-solving and documentation skills.
  • Proven experience in the planning and implemenation of quality improvement projects.
  • Systems level thinking and ability to think strategically.
  • Ability to review and critically analyze literature and research and to apply findings and theoretical frameworks into clinical practice and standards of care.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of Patient and Family-Centred Care.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective clinical practice leadership.
  • Ability to work independently, be self-directed and particpate in/lead interprofessional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability of strong interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), diplomacy, coaching facilitation and team building skills.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement processes related to professional practice throughout the hospital which support the implementation of interprofessional, evidence-based, patient and family-centred care delivery systems.
  • Collaborate in the development and facilitation of interprofessional education and change management as it relates to project objectives.
  • Assist with program planning, implementation, evaluation and sustainability of the Interprofessional Model of Care Redesign.
  • Support the development of intiatives that advance corporate and program/service quality and utilization.
  • Provide leadership on cross functional project teams that support identified corporate patient care as well as quality system changes in both clinical and non-clinical areas.
  • Utilize continuous quality improvement methodologies in the analysis, evaluation and monitoring of project outcomes.
  • Identify and implement strategies to translate and interpret research findings and theoretical frameworks into practice.
  • Assist in facilitating an interprofessional collaboration approach to problem solving and decision making.
  • Work with teams to ensure all professional scopes of practice are maximized.
  • Act as a resource for questions related to scope of practice/scope of role and professional standards.
  • Provide direction and support in the development of learning plans associated with Performance Development Plans.
  • Support the implementation of Best Practice Guidelines and support the deliverables of being a Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO).
