Procurement Energy Analyst in Montreal, Quebec (REMOTE)


VACCINATION - Must have complete Proof of Covid Vaccination to be eligible.

TRAVEL – Must be able to travel to the US for meetings.

SCHEDULE37.7 hours per week; Work from anywhere in Canada except for the travel required to US.


JOB DESCRIPTION - The Procurement Specialist will be responsible to support the execution of category strategy for the purchase and delivery of power to our mining operations in the United States. This includes regular reviews with key stakeholders, contract management, and supplier/customer relationship management. A strong commercial mindset and strategic acumen, together with solid influencing and communication skills will be critical attributes.



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience within the power industry.
  • Strong project management, problem solving, and supplier/customer relationship management skills.
  • Experience in the formulation, presentation, and implementation of innovative supply strategies and business cases.
  • Strong ability to develop analytical modeling tools and translate findings to meaningful management information.
  • Working knowledge of power contracts in some or all key supplier locations (i.e., Utah and California, Western US)
  • An ability to communicate succinctly verbally and in written form with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • An open and transparent approach and ability to achieve a high level of trust in a matrix environment.
  • An ability to achieve outcomes through influence and collaboration with others.
  • An ability to work unsupervised and be a self-starter.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain the highest standard of health and safety performance by implementing a personal safety plan, exhibiting positive safety behaviors, leading by example with colleagues and acting in accordance with client Procurement Health, Safety, and Environmental policies.
  • Support the development and deployment of best-practice power purchasing strategies
  • Maintain communication with business unit representatives through regular meetings. Client is a global company, and the Procurement Specialist is expected to be able to participate in business calls during the late evening.
  • Maximize value to Client through effective category management including market analysis, market approach, contracting, and contract management
  • Monitor the regional power markets. This includes market supply/demand analysis, key market drivers, internal forecasts, future trend analysis and changes to technology & regulatory environments.
  • Consolidate internal customers' demand requirements and consumption trends that will be the basis for category strategy development and related sourcing programs.
  • Ensure all projects are delivered using Ariba and they meet the requirements outlined in Client Procurement and Group Policies, Standards and Guidelines; and
  • Must be able to travel occasionally within North America to visit stakeholders.
