Position Summary:
Reporting to the Executive Director of the Analysis, Planning, and Budget (APB) unit in the Office of the Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic) and working as a member of a team of analysts, perform quantitative and qualitative data analysis to support University decision-making and strategic planning. Evaluate trends relevant to post-secondary education and research. Develop data sets to support analysis. Participate in a variety of requests for reports, analysis, and statistical information. Analyze data and produce statistical reports using a variety of specialized databases. Respond to users' needs both internally and externally from other universities and organizations. Build relationships and contacts with external organizations, other universities, government agencies and workgroups. Act as consultant for internal analysis projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with senior analysts on performing quantitative and qualitative data analysis, data visualization, and reporting to support University decision-making and strategic planning;
  • Perform data analysis on EDI portfolios, including the Indigenous portfolio;
  • Analyze data and make recommendations regarding deregulated tuition planning;
  • Analyse data using the Gestion des données sur l’effectif universitaire (GDEU) database;
  • Perform data analysis for the University rankings portfolio;
  • Maintain University tables: Org Table, USU Table, etc.
  • Undertake and lead special projects (e.g., Faculty profiles, integrated strategic planning) and develop data sets to support analysis.
  • Build relationships and contacts with external organizations, other universities, government agencies and workgroups.
  • Work in an agile and collaborative manner with team members to maximize knowledge sharing on complex projects and topics (e.g., strategic enrolment, academic program development, enrolment-driven revenue projections, etc.)
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
  • Strong analytical background, and the ability to apply an equity lens to analyses.
  • Advanced Excel.
  • Experience with Tableau and/or PowerBI a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of data structure and databases.
  • Ability to transform data into recommendations.
  • Capacity to find creative solutions and make independent decisions.
  • Ability to work in a PC environment using databases, spreadsheets, statistical and visualization tools to produce analyses and reports.
  • Proven experience working in an environment where confidentiality is foremost.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills, showing tact and professional conduct with clients at all levels.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a larger team and to build strong relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Knowledge of French and English. McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English
    communication both verbally and in writing.

Annual Salary:
(MPEX Grade 05) $65,500.00 - $81,870.00 - $98,240.00
