WHO WE ARE


We are currently hiring an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Planner to join our TransAlta team in Sarnia. As the Planner, you are accountable for the planning of routine, balance of plant, and outage work in the Instrument and Electrical Maintenance group. The main focus for this position will be to implement and execute the work management process within the maintenance group. SAP experience in the maintenance modules will be a requirement for this position.


This is a full-time salaried position at our Sarnia Regional Cogeneration Plant in Sarnia, Ontario.


WHAT YOU WILL DO


Including, but not limited to:


  • Create, foster, and maintain a proactive safety culture for Sarnia

  • The planner plays a key role in working with Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering Managers in the development of fixed work scopes for routine maintenance and project group work requirements

  • Scope work requests for accurate routine/forced outage and project work orders and job package creation including personnel hour estimates, material and service requisitions, and reservations, drawings, work history, safe work information, special tool requirements, task lists, feedback reports, etc

  • Ensure notification/order standards are adhered to by all groups, operations, maintenance, and planners

  • Develop equipment plans for use in future job planning. These are the main requirements for continuous improvement. Information includes digital pictures, special tools, critical repair specs and clearances, typical consumables, safety information, accurate master data, typical services required to execute work, and corrective task list creation through continuous updating

  • Data Management to include creation and updating Bill of Material (BOM), creation of Stock Code Numbers (SCN), update, maintain and create Preventative Maintenance Plans (PM)

  • Plan issued for construction packages supplied by Engineering, and assist in the Management of Change (MOC) process

  • Work with equipment maintainers to understand their needs in work packages

  • Accountable to work with Supply Chain Management & Maintenance Supervisor to make recommendations for decisions on what is stocked vs. non-stocked material in the plant


WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU


  • Instrument and or Electrical Journeyman Trade Certificate (309A, 442a ,447A) or Instrument and or Electrical Engineering Technology/Technician diploma with 3-5 years technical experience in plant utility or other industrial settings.

  • Proven planning experience or recognized planning certificate program

  • Experience and ability to use the Plant Maintenance module in SAP, Maximo or other EAM’s

  • Ability to use multiple software packages such as, SAP, Document Depository (DOC), Microsoft Office Tools & Maximo

  • Ability to prioritize rapidly changing work requests

  • Successful completion of applicable pre-employment testing is a condition of employment
