People Partner Job at Unilever

Unilever Kingston, ON

Job Title: People Partner
Location: Kingston/ 100VE
JOB PURPOSE
Our HR Vision is to be famous as a “purpose-driven place to work” that’s creating the future of work for a diverse population, focused on growth and recognised & rewarded for measurable success.
As a People Partner you will be passionate about supporting our colleagues through their career journey. You will be part of the Employee Experience team – this group of colleagues strives to create and deliver slick processes for every employee journey there is. Your interactions with employees in your business function will ensure they feel valued, heard and given the right resources and support they need during the most important moments during their careers (and in some instances, such as parental leave, during their lives!).
The People Partner will ensure Employees and Line Managers understand the partnership model that has been put in place with Technology & Una as a first point of contact for any queries.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The People Partner will be able to directly make a positive impact on each key stage of an employee's lifecycle and be the key person to positively influence and shape the employee experience at times which are critical in their career.
Key to the smooth running of HR Operations within the UK business, working with Employees, Line Managers, HRBPs and other business partners within the function you are partnering, you will:
  • Manage onboarding, job move and exit employee engagement. Own the end-to-end employee cycle – partnering line managers and acting as a single point of contact for employees in your function area, through key career moments such as onboarding, role moves locally and globally, career growth, parental leave, time off, exit, etc. (working with our Hub in Cairo to deliver the transactions)
  • Provide coaching and support to line managers in employee experience. Empower our employees to be the best version of themselves. Our role is to help Employees, and our business, to thrive. Therefore, at Unilever we are committed to promoting a positive environment in our workplaces. As People Partner, you will be a wellbeing ambassador, championing positive health and wellbeing, and promoting the resources available to support our people.
  • Support Local HR Strategic People Agenda: Work with HRBPs and Leaders to create and deliver project plans for managing any change programmes and reorganisations. As People Partner, specifically, you will play a key role leading any change programme end-to-end, ensuring meaningful consultation takes place, whilst providing guidance and support on process and policy.
  • Take a proactive approach to employee relations, reviewing data and spotting any employee relations trends, recommending solutions, and coaching Line Managers to take any actions you feel are the right steps to take/ tackle problems before they grow.
  • Guide Leaders and HRBPs in relation to HR policies and procedures (such as performance improvement, grievances, absence management etc), coaching them through the process and ensuring they have a good understanding of the legal requirements. Our role with ER can be very hands-on, writing scripts, creating outcome letters, etc. to support cases through to completion.
  • Work side-by-side with teams across HR (HRBPs, Payroll, Reward, Global Mobility, Talent Acquisition etc), providing support and subject matter expertise to recommend appropriate actions to address queries or problems.
What will you gain from this job and how it will impact Unilever?
You will be able to directly make a positive impact on each key stage of an employee's lifecycle and be the key person to positively influence and shape the employee experience at times which are critical in their career.
What does this mean in reality? Our HR Business Partners own strategic activities/decisions for “populations” whilst you, impact an individual employee/line manager experience.
No two days will be the same – you will be on an endless learning journey, which will give you the chance to deal with different people, including access to senior stakeholders and freedom to work on exciting projects!
ALL ABOUT YOU
  • You’ll have experience of employee relations and case management, including knowledge of UK employment laws and regulations
  • You will have great attention to detail, a passion for delivering great customer experience and you can spot an opportunity to improve a process at a mile off
  • You will be experienced in handling sensitive matters with tact and diplomacy, you are comfortable having difficult conversations, working professionally and discreetly with sensitive information
  • Both the what and the how are important to us – explaining requirements/processes is key, but first comes the critical step of gaining buy-in from your stakeholders. Therefore, you’ll have strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, building strong relationships with trust & confidence, as well as having the ability to influence.
  • You’ll be confident to work independently – making your own judgment, using discretion while utilising Unilever policies and practices
  • A natural collaborator – you’ll work well as part of the team, there is no such thing as “not my job!” here – we have one shared purpose, to drive growth, whilst protecting Unilever from risk.

Recruitment Fraud
Cyber criminals advertise fake job adverts with prestigious employers as a way of stealing information or even defrauding individuals out of money. In the most sophisticated cases, they will set up fake websites, which have a similar address to companies like Unilever. They even conduct fake telephone interviews and then offer candidates a role with the proviso they pay a fee for background checks or to cover work visa costs. These types of attacks are becoming more common as more people are looking for employment in the economic climate.
How is Unilever tackling this?
Many of Unilever’s recruitment sites publish a warning to candidates about recruitment fraud. The Cyber Security team also proactively scan for signs of people setting up fake Unilever sites and act to close them down.
What can I do?
If you become aware of potential recruitment fraud, spot fake Unilever recruitment adverts or fake LinkedIn profiles, report them via Una Live Chat.
Unilever does not accept responsibility or liability for any candidates who are financially impacted by recruitment fraud. Your vigilance is key!
