The Village of Lions Bay is a small yet vibrant community located on the scenic coast of Howe Sound, ten minutes north of West Vancouver and twenty minutes south of Squamish. One of the key goals of Municipal staff is to provide first class service to residents and Council and we are looking for someone with drive and determination to contribute to and help grow the capacity of our dedicated team.

Description
This is an exciting, full-time administrative opportunity for a person with solid municipal experience who wishes to advance his or her career in municipal government. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Municipal Coordinator functions primarily in a legislative services role and as a senior assistant to the CAO, involved in all aspects of workflow, scheduling, deadline control, records management, handling and preparation of reports and correspondence, agenda control, policy development, and acts as the recorder and Deputy Corporate Officer for Council Meetings and advises on procedural rules during such meetings. This position is a steppingstone to a Corporate Officer position.

The Municipal Coordinator must be knowledgeable about current issues under consideration by the Council and the CAO and be familiar with the Municipality’s position on issues. High levels of independent action, confidentiality, and responsible decision-making are required. The work involves considerable contact with elected officials, the public and a variety of internal and external contacts.

In this role, the Municipal Coordinator will prepare agendas and minutes, prioritize and prepare communications, prepare and review reports, and provide research and special project support to the CAO. The Municipal Coordinator is responsible for initiating and coordinating general administrative functions for the Village Office to ensure smooth and efficient operations and excellent customer service in a close team environment.

The successful candidate should have a certificate or diploma in Public Administration with five years progressive experience working in a municipality or regional district with training in the preparation of agendas and minutes, records management, parliamentary procedures, FIPPA and other pertinent local government matters, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
