Marketing & Events Coordinator

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Marketing and Events Coordinator will play an active role in our organization, assisting with the execution of ongoing activities and events for the Georgina Chamber of Commerce.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION

· Play an active role in our Chamber of Commerce, Discover Georgina Tourism and Shop Local Initiatives

· Assist and organize ongoing activities and events for the Georgina Chamber of Commerce

· create and execute social media campaigns, marketing brochures, event pages, itineraries, coordinate meetings, and various other tasks to be assigned.

· Act in accordance with the organization’s bylaws, operating policies and procedures and the approved annual budget for all duties.

Social Media

· Create social media campaigns for Georgina Chamber, DiscoverGeorgina.ca and Shop Local Georgina, and additional events as needed. (Emphasis on Facebook and Instagram, but also Twitter and LinkedIn)

· Advertise and share Chamber, Member and community events.

Events

· Attend events to help us spread the word about everything local…businesses, upcoming events and tourism initiatives.

· Participate in and organize chamber events. Assist with and/or plan and execute Chamber sponsored business and community events

Marketing

· Create, maintain, and update print collateral and event marketing materials

· Organize and lead in the creation of Chamber and Tourism newsletters, e-blasts and event website pages

· Update the Marketing Committee on the coordination of projects and events

Other Duties

· All staff handle office related tasks including, but not limited to:

· answering phone calls and walk-in visits, responding to email requests for information, office upkeep

· Maintain community information for visitors and residents (i.e. tourism, directory listings, community organization and business information and contacts, etc.) through website upkeep, publications and posts

· Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & EDUCATION:

· Successful completion of post-secondary education in event management, marketing or related field or experience is required.

· Marketing and social media skills and experience essential

· Community oriented, interested and have knowledge in Georgina economic development, tourism and the shop/support local initiatives.

· Excellent and effective written and verbal communication skills

· Ability to multi-task - manage and coordinate various projects and committees at the same time.

· Superb customer service and initiative

· Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Drive programs, database management, and accounting programs is essential

Contract Position – 30 hours/week $22/hour Includes benefits plan
The successful applicant will need to maintain flexible scheduling as both early morning, evening or weekend evening events occur each month.
