The Opportunity

In this position, you will be responsible for the advancement of Lean Manufacturing and process improvement at Westfield by implementing engineering expertise and strategies. This will include using Lean tools and techniques to increase the value-added processes in our manufacturing processes, identifying and leading process improvement events in the facility and analyzing the value streams of our product lines to drive Westfield towards operational excellence.

The Team

The Quality and Process Engineering department consists of a quality technician, process training development and job certification personnel and quality auditors, we collaborate with production and engineering to maximize our internal and external customer satisfaction. The Manufacturing Process Engineer will report directly to the Quality & Process Engineering Supervisor (P.Eng).

Responsibilities:

The Manufacturing Process Engineer duties include but are not limited to the following:

• Perform analysis on production processes and implement Lean manufacturing concepts to improve efficiencies and remove waste.
• Collect information on manufacturing value streams to determine opportunities for improvement of the flow of product through the facility.
• Work closely with production staff to implement Kaizen improvements and other Lean initiatives as needed.
• Assist manager with Lean Green Belt Training as required.
• Lead Lean Green Belt improvement teams at AGI Westfield.
• Assist Quality & Process Engineering Supervisor with manufacturing process and Lean Audit planning to achieve quarterly/yearly results for the company.
• Other tasks and projects as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering. Preference to those with Mechanical/Manufacturing specialization or another program.
• Lean manufacturing training /course work or relevant work experience
• Applicants with relevant engineering co-op work experience will be more strongly considered
• A passion for problem solving, process improvement, and manufacturing of quality products
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong computer literacy and proficiency
• Integrity, honesty, assertiveness, and confident personality.
