Job Overview

Reporting to the Assistant General Manager, the Maintenance Technician carries out preventative maintenance and repair duties on site to ensure safety and comfort of hotel guests, customers, and team members with compliance to brand standards and local regulatory requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Repair or replace items such as but not limited to light bulbs, lamps, switches, outlets, faucets, toilets, hardware, filters, paint, furniture, wall coverings, caulking, grouting, or other miscellaneous items
• Work with other department team members in the systematic application of preventive maintenance program, via written, verbal communications
• Makes record of repairs made, or areas needing further attention
• Maintain proper preventative maintenance documentation per Choice Hotel brand mandate
• Maintain inventory of supplies needed to perform job function
• Reports major repairs and items that cannot be repaired to the dispatcher for further action and if necessary, communicate with front office to place a room out of order
• May be required to do other duties and special projects as assigned by management
• Inspect guest rooms, public spaces, kitchen, bar equipment and back of house for areas to repair, touch up, or replace
• Perform regular power washing of building walls and ensure exterior parking lot and driveways are free of debris and hazard, including ice and snow
• Ensure all lighting and sound systems work seamlessly
• Any duties as assigned by the General Managers

Job Requirement

• High School Graduate, other trades or vocational education certificate/degree highly preferred
• Current working knowledge of general maintenance and engineering work
• Must have flexibility for AM/weekend shifts
• Experience in the Maintenance Department of a hotel is a definite asset
• Strong work ethic
• Basic computer knowledge
• A passion for delivering great customer service
• Ability to work without close supervision and within established timeframes
• Must have basic experience in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical
• Strong written and verbal communication in English
• Valid Driver's License with clean driving record

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Salary: $20.00-$24.00 per hour
