What would be your responsibilities?

You would be responsible for assisting with the treatment process by performing a variety of manual tasks within the treatment facility.

Position Summary

The Maintenance B mechanic repairs and maintains, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical plant equipment such as motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines/equipment, using hand tools & power tools. Precision measuring and testing instruments and adjustment of equipment as required as well as preventative maintenance rounds and inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Repair of pumps, motors, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems
  • Troubleshoot and monitor equipment function
  • Interacts with equipment operators to determine needs
  • Performs preventative maintenance and plant inspections
  • Metal fabrication
  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble
  • Diagnoses standard mechanical equipment problems
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts
  • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts
  • Utilizes welding and fabrication tools to alter, repair, and fabricate processing equipment
  • Performs the preventative maintenance program established by the company
  • Documents and reports all maintenance work performed and advises of future requirements in a timely manner
  • Tests and adjusts equipment to meet performance specifications
  • Maintains a clean and safe working environment
  • Assists in shop operations in a responsive, efficient and safe manner
  • Safe and responsible operation of company equipment always
  • Abides to OHSA (Occupational Health and Safety Act) workplace health and safety standards
  • Willingness and availability to participate in on-call rotation
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Knowledge of Wood/lumber product is an asset (i.e. length, width, dimensions)
  • Ability to work in a timely manner
  • Excellent coordination skills
  • Ability to use hand tools i.e. barding tools, side cutters, etc.
  • Attention to detail (to follow safety guidelines)
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Ability to follow signed S.O.P
  • Basic computer skills – Windows
  • Basic Math Skills

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Minimum three (3) year of related experience, an asset
  • Appropriate trade training and/or experience
  • Any relevant certification and/or training
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Work at heights
  • Time and stress management
  • Attention to detail
  • Systems process knowledge
  • Mechanical and electrical skills
  • Experience in hydraulics, electrical, pumps, valves, piping, threading and pneumatic systems
  • Excellent trouble-shooting skills
  • Basic mechanical knowledge in wood industry preferred
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Basic math skills
  • Experience in fabrication and welding of various metals (including pipe welding)
  • Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Write simple correspondence
  • Work independently and be flexible regarding work assignments
  • Operate a forklift and other heavy machinery
