Duties: Under the general supervision of the Manager of Clerk’s Services/Deputy City Clerk.

  • Operate all equipment related to the provision of mail services including, but not limited to the postage machine.
  • Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and in good, clean working order. Perform minor adjustments and repairs to equipment or where necessary, contact the service representative to perform equipment repairs.
  • Maintain, order, and receive all mail supplies.
  • Responsible for mail pick-up, delivery service to both internal and external CGS departments; including sorting and posting.
  • Pick-up and delivery of supply items for area depots and garages.
  • Responsible for pick up and deliver of library totes which contain such items as inter-office mail, books and other supplies.
  • Ensure there is sufficient postage available on the metre, advise the Manager of Clerk’s Services/Deputy City Clerk when the metre is to be replenished and reset the metre.
  • Responsible for pick-up and delivery of items to the bank designated for CGS
  • Ensure the mail delivery vehicles are kept clean, serviced and maintained in good working condition.
  • Make special courier deliveries and pickups, as required.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGS’s Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein.
  • Perform other related duties as directed.

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of Secondary School (Grade XII) Education.
  • Over six (6) months and up to and including one (1) year of directly related experience.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills in dealing with the public, staff, and outside agencies in a courteous and effective manner.
  • Familiarity with mail methods.
  • Ability to make minor adjustments to mail equipment.
  • Provide, at own expense, a Criminal Record Check.
  • Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
  • French verbal and written skills an asset.
  • Satisfactory health, attendance and former employment history.
  • Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid driver’s licence, have an acceptable driving record, and personal insurance coverage.
