Edmonton Transit Services (ETS) is a fully integrated, progressive, easy to use public transit system that provides over 80 million rides each year. Reporting to the Supervisor of LRT Facilities Maintenance, you will be responsible for ensuring safety, reliability and cleanliness of all of the LRT facilities for smooth operations through effectively planning and coordinating regular inspections, condition assessments and coordinating of all maintenance activities. The LRT Facilities Maintenance Coordinator also represents the ETS for major renovations, expansion and capital renewal projects.

  • Conduct regular site inspections to assess the condition of LRT Facilities for safety, level of maintenance and cleanliness and records findings in inspection reports
  • Coordinate maintenance activities for LRT facilities and ensure that impacts to LRT service and the public are minimized
  • Use conditional monitoring tools to track the operational performance of LRT facilities systems, review alarming conditions and coordinate urgent repair solutions
  • Assist the supervisor with developing and managing the LRT facilities maintenance programs
  • Use standards and codes as applicable and review, interpret and provide inputs to the engineering designs, work packages and specifications for maintenance upgrades, expansion and capital renewal projects representing ETS Facilities Maintenance group
  • Assist in developing equipment and material specifications related to LRT facility design for new and upgraded facilities
  • Research new materials, methods, equipment, and supporting tools to improve safety, reliability and operation of the stations and provide innovative solutions to existing issues
  • Investigate for the root cause and find solutions for improvement to concerns and inquiries received from customers and provide responses back
  • Review service support requests from various stakeholders and coordinate work activities to ensure that impacts to LRT service and the transit riders are minimized
  • Holds the On-call responsibility on rotational basis, attending emergent situations and coordinating demand repair activities after hours and on weekends when on-call
Qualifications:
  • Completion of a 2 year diploma in an Engineering Technology discipline from a recognized institution.
  • Must be eligible to be recognized as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) with ASET
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in facility maintenance management with demonstrated knowledge in building operation and maintenance of building systems and components
  • Demonstrated experience managing maintenance and capital projects and programs within a municipal government environment is an asset
  • Experience working with a variety of infrastructure related to transit facilities is an asset
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to manage multidisciplinary teams
  • Considerable knowledge of technical and engineering principles /practices of commercial building systems and /or transit facilities
  • Knowledge of design and construction processes related to architectural, civil, structural, mechanical and electrical disciplines would be an asset
  • Considerable knowledge of applicable bylaws, standards and regulations, including safety and regulatory standards related to commercial facilities areas and equipment such as Alberta Building Code (ABC), ASME A 17.1/CSA B44 would be an asset
  • Considerable knowledge of the engineering terminology and techniques related to commercial building systems and / or transit facilities would be an asset
  • Knowledge of Transit Facilities and Transit Operations is an asset
  • Training related to project management and/or facility management is an asset
  • Experience in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, manuals, specifications and technical documents of a complex technical nature would be an asset
  • Must work safely and adhere to the programs and initiatives within the ETS Branch
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and SAP would be an asset
  • Experience using Google Applications is an asset
  • Strong organizational, decision making, interpersonal and customer services skills
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks in order to deliver quality work on time
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position
