About the role


In this role you will further the Mission, Vision, Values and objectives of Canadian Blood Services in the delivery of products, processes and services that meet or exceed customers’ expectations in accordance with CBS’ Management System and all legislative and regulatory requirements.


Responsibilities:


  • Receives, inspects, stores and prepares donor samples according to approved work instructions.
  • Operates equipment required in the sample preparation and other processes such as plate washing and Storage.
  • Ensures working area is maintained in an orderly and safe manner. Uses personal protective equipment as required.
  • Follows GMP guidelines for all documentation required.
  • Records temperatures of refrigerators, freezers, incubators, and environmental conditions in testing areas.
  • Aliquots and prepares samples for shipment to the Ottawa Project Lab for confirmatory testing.
  • Performs work in accordance with the provisions of the Canadian Blood Services’ Corporate Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.


Required Skills:


  • Grade 12 and one year laboratory work experience or an equivalent combination.
  • Able to work independently, and escalate issues appropriately
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to function as part of a lab team and demonstrated regular attendance is required.
  • Must be able to work evenings and Night Shifts.
