Position Summary:

A Kitchen Designer utilizes their sales experience, computer design skills, and product knowledge to assist customers with designing their dream kitchen. This is achieved through a commitment of achieving Northumberland Building Materials Ltd.’s service standards and while providing the customers with the best shopping experience possible.

Wage structure: Base wage + commission

Location: This position is at the RONA store in Port Hope, Ontario.

Duties and Responsibilities, but not limited to:

• Builds strong and lasting relationships with our retail, professional, and contractor customers
• Provides customers with appropriate information on suggested products and alternatives explaining features and benefits. Provides application advice as required.
• Assists customers with information/product requirements in the store, via telephone, and via email
• Utilizes effective questioning and listening techniques to identify and qualify customer requirements
• Creates kitchen and bath designs using 20/20 software. Designs include laying out cabinets, countertops, and appliances.
• Accurately prices kitchen and bath designs to create quotes for customers
• Orders all kitchen and bath design components – cabinets, countertops, pulls, sinks, faucets, etc.
• Organizes delivery and installation of kitchens and vanities
• Stays current with kitchen and bath design trends

Qualifications:

• Positive attitude when dealing with both customers and co-workers
• Ability to set priorities and deliver results within deadlines
• Exemplary listening, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Effective time management and problem-solving skills
• Basic math skills are required
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
• Flexible availability based on store needs (includes evenings and weekends)
• Knowledge of the building construction industry; trends, products, application techniques and projects an asset
• Previous design experience an asset
• First aid trained is an asset
