The Opportunity:

We are looking for a Junior Toxicologist to join our team. In this position, you will support on the design and implementation of water quality, sediment quality, and aquatic monitoring programs on multi-disciplinary projects. The position is based in western Canada, with the option of sitting in one of our Edmonton or Saskatoon offices. You would be joining an integrated team of toxicologists working across Canada with an established reputation for delivering quality work.

A day in the life:

  • You will support on the design and implementation of water quality, sediment quality, and aquatic monitoring programs;
  • You are analytical and skilled at managing large datasets, as you will be supporting project teams with data analysis and interpretation for environmental monitoring and impact assessments;
  • You will be working closely with your colleagues on multi-disciplinary projects;
  • You will support with data management, interpretation and preparing reports, proposals, and presentations;
  • You have a strong focus on quality assurance/quality control;
  • You are a critical thinker and are solution-orientated;

What you'll bring to WSP ...

  • A university degree (preferably MSc or PhD in environmental, toxicology, or biological sciences, or related field);
  • 1 to 3 years of work experience in the field of environmental, toxicology, or biological sciences, or related field;
  • Technical skills in water quality, sediment quality, and/or aquatic programs;
  • Strong data evaluation skills, including statistical techniques, and a keen understanding of data quality requirements for large datasets;
  • You know your way around the MS Office suite of products and are keen to grow your skills in new areas;
  • A proven commitment to health and safety;
  • A passion for working in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team environment, with strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and problem-solving abilities.
