The Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering at the University of Toronto seeks one Course Instructor for the First Year Foundations, Summer Academy: Physics course from July 01 to August 31, 2023.


The First Year Foundations, Summer Academy (formerly University of Toronto, Engineering Academy)

Topics include: This course includes topics covered in the Ontario High School Curriculum grades 11 & 12 Science (Physics – SPH3U and SPH4U) courses and contextualizing these topics to first year engineering courses which include: CIV100, CIV102, PHY180, MIE100.


Qualifications

Applicants should have a strong record of preparing and presenting lectures. Applicants must be able to demonstrate considerable depth of knowledge and experience in the subject area. All applicants must have excellent communication skills – both oral and written. The applicant must be able to lecture in a clear voice and explain concepts clearly.


Duties Include: Preparation of online lecture and course materials and delivery of live and pre-recorded lectures (3 hours per week), coordinating the work of the Academic Mentors. This course is scheduled to be offered online only.


Estimated Course Enrolment:
60 students

Rate of Pay: CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Sessional Lecturer – Half Course Stipend Rate (includes vacation pay)

Final availability of the position is contingent upon final course determination, enrolment, budgetary considerations, and the final determination of assignments flowing from Article 14:03 of the Collective Agreement.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12 of the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement.
