Employment Status Full Time Employment Type Fixed Term Job Summary Specific Duties
This position plays a key role in supporting effective and timely communication within the College and to external clients. This position reinforces the College’s values and vision by consistently demonstrating a caring, courteous and customer service oriented attitude and approach in all interactions with students, the public and other employees.
  • Identify, collect and distribute College information for communication to internal and external clients.
  • Answer in-coming telephone calls, provide general information, and direct/transfer calls to the appropriate offices and individuals.
  • Answer general knowledge questions of CNC processes, events and activities.
  • Processes and distributes all incoming Office of the Registrar mail.
  • Lead person for Ministry of Justice Criminal Records Check process. Involves creating access codes, receiving confirmation and distribution of results to appropriate CNC personnel.
  • Responsible for scanning and linking of all documents kept within the electronic student file in accordance with Perceptive Content processes.
  • Preparation of student requested “Verification of Enrollment” letters for various funding or other agencies.
  • Obtain updated records of personnel and department changes and College activities for all CNC campuses.
  • Monitor, respond, troubleshoot and redirect e-mail inquiries.
  • Remain at switchboard position to monitor phones during emergencies and evacuations as per college policy.
  • Train backup personnel on switchboard functions.
  • Perform general duties including compiling acceptance packages, filing, photocopying, data entry, etc.
  • Update and data enter into electronic student database personal information, admission and program requirements such as test results, transcript information, certificates, criminal record checks, etc.
  • Maintain positive working relationship with various College departments and regions.
  • You will be part of a team actively engaged in contributing to and accomplishing the vision, mission, and goals of the College and in supporting the aspirations and needs of our learners.
  • You will promote a positive work atmosphere by interacting and communicating in a professional manner that demonstrates mutual respect with students and colleagues.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum one years’ post-secondary education in Communications, Applied Business Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum two years of related work experience, preferably in dealing with the public in an educational setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent word processing, spreadsheet and data entry skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn and retain a large body of general College information, including activities, functions, personnel, rules, policies, regulation, procedures, etc.
  • Ability to work with constant interruptions and to maintain attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and complete multiple tasks manner in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to make simple arithmetic computations and tabulations correctly.
  • Ability to compose routine and non-routine correspondence.
  • Ability to handle difficult customers appropriately.
  • Ability to handle emergency telephone calls and situations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy requirements.
  • Minimum typing speed of 30 words per minute with 90% accuracy.
  • Data entry keyboarding skills (alpha/numeric) of 90 key strokes per minute.
  • Reliable, punctual with strong organizational skills.
