We are excited to announce we currently have an opening for a professional, enthusiastic, compassionate I PAC LEAD/ Clinical Educator to join our team. Responsible to the Director of Care, the I PAC Lead/ Clinical Educator will assist in providing education support to the organizations Clinical needs , while ensuring efficient office IPAC practices and support.

AREA OF COMPETITION:

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse
• Completion of a certified program for infection prevention and control (or a willingness to obtain within one year on commencement date.
• Minimum one year experience in management of infection prevention and control practices.
• CBIC certified (or a willingness to obtain on year upon commencement date)
• Has demonstrated working knowledge of outbreak guidance documents and practices.
• Ability to work with people and follow directions from others
• Willingness to follow company policies, guidance documents and legislation.
• Must be able to work and communicate effectively with long-term care residents, families, interdisciplinary professionals, other stakeholders and staff.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Flexibility to assist in floor coverage when required, including outside of usual scheduled hours
• Participation in the development, assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the infection control program.
• Staff education planning and implementation in relation to IPAC
• Provisions of services in accordance with the established Residents’ expectations and changing needs and the established standards.
• Data collection and analysis of performance indicators submitted monthly or as required to Director of Care for infection control
• Monitoring of Resident Home Areas for potential outbreak activity.
• Taking a lead role within the home in an outbreak situation and providing direction to staff within the home
• Ensures compliance of all facility staff with respect to Infection Prevention and Control practices, proper utilization of PPE’s, proper hand washing protocols, and other precautions.
• Liaisons with Public Health Unit and/or various stakeholders with respect to outbreaks
• Attends Public Health Unit Education as available
• Actively participates in on going education related to Infection Control Practices
• Organizes and maintains statistical data for annual Resident and Staff Influenza program and submits results to Public Health and Director of Care.
• Completes, submits and updates CI Submissions related to outbreak
• Conducts inspections, evaluations and audits in-line with the homes IPAC Program
• Collaboration with interdisciplinary professionals to determine educational needs of the nursing department
• Staff education planning and implementation in relation to the identified needs of the nursing department
• Leads or participates in interdisciplinary committees/meetings as required
• Collaborates and participates in oversight to the BSO team with a focus on antipsychotic reduction
• Assist on the floor as required /other tasks as assigned
