The Human Resources Department has an opening for a permanent, full-time Human Resources Advisor. If you are an energetic, resourceful problem solver who is excited to work with and learn about a variety of departments in a municipal government setting, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Human Resources, this position is responsible for:

  • Providing consultation and advice to managers and staff on a wide range of human resource programs, processes, initiatives and labour relations matters;
  • Ensuring that practices are consistent and comply with legislation, collective agreements, administrative regulations, policies and procedures;
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, managers, bargaining agents, and external contacts, and interacting in a manner that builds trust, credibility, and rapport;
  • Coordinating, guiding, and participating in the recruitment and selection process; and,
  • Participating in other duties and special projects as assigned.

The ideal candidate has: completed a degree in Human Resources or a related field; experience in all functional areas of HR in a unionized environment; a record of accomplishments which demonstrates effective teamwork, collaborative problem solving and excellent customer service; a high energy level; an appetite for progressive change and continuous learning; strong organizational and time management skills; success in building and maintaining strong working relationships; and exceptional facilitation, negotiation, and communication skills. A CPHR designation would be an asset.

The successful candidate will be required to supply an acceptable police information check and a copy of their credentials. All District of West Vancouver employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of hire. A personal vehicle and a valid BC Driver’s License are required.

Exempt – Permanent, Full-time

35 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary)
