JOB SUMMARY

The HR Innovative Solutions Branch maintains, administers and supports HR systems and processes to ensure efficient and reliable access to people information.

You serve as the first point of contact for standard HR information, inquiries and transactions via telephone, intranet, voicemail and walk-in visits.

You provide sound interpretation and application of HR policies and practices, applying a broad base of human resources knowledge, judgement and initiative when interacting with representatives of city departments to resolve HR related concerns, and to process HR transactions, including answering incoming calls and questions relating to general human resources issues, recruitment, staffing, collective agreements, benefits, pensions, pay and employee leave. You also provide advice to clients on how to use HR self-service tools to obtain information and resolve issues.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of 2 year post-secondary or community college diploma in Business or related field

Minimum of 3 years of related customer service experience, preferably in a Human Resources and/or Payroll functional area

KNOWLEDGE

  • Customer service practices
  • Working knowledge of HR policies, processes and procedures
  • Microsoft Office Suite (intermediate level) and other corporate standard software, as required
  • Intermediate knowledge of HRIS (preferably SAP)
  • Employment Standards Act, MFIPPA and other related legislation
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HRIS operation within an HR/Payroll services environment is an asset

  • Ability to apply communication skills with all levels of the employees, management and the general public
  • Work independently and within a team environment to provide optimal client service
  • Ability to provide technical support concerning the Employee Self Service/Manager Self Service (ESS/MSS)

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Language Requirement: Various language requirements, locations may require English only, French only OR Bilingual competencies. Some positions require English oral, reading, and writing. Some positions required French oral, reading and writing.
  • You may initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the terms and conditions.
  • Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.
