Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Chabot Enterprises Ltd. is a Winnipeg Heavy Construction company specializing in sand and gravel supply and delivery; roadway construction and earthworks projects. We are looking for the right person to join our team and take on this key role.

As part of the CHABOT team, the Mechanic is part of the team responsible for the day-to-day operations of the equipment maintenance program. The goal is to make sure that equipment is running efficiently, with adequate service and repair to minimize down-time. The person in this role is responsible for repair work, services and maintenance on heavy construction equipment and trucks/trailers.

Responsibilities & Duties

This role is multi-faceted; encompassing heavy construction equipment used in road construction and maintenance:

· Organize and set-up work projects with Shop Supervisor

· Complete major and routine repairs and maintenance

· Set up repair plans

· Document repair work

· Communicate with Operations Director, Supervisors and operators in a professional and team-oriented manner

· Organize parts and equipment assets

Qualifications

· 2-5 Years of experience repairing heavy construction trucks & equipment

· Valid Class Driver’s License (class 1 or 3 an asset)

· Welding experience an asset

· Ability to lift 50lbs

· Strong technical knowledge

· Proven ability to diagnose and troubleshoot heavy equipment

· Positive attitude, strong work ethic and able to work with minimal Supervision

· Ability to prioritize effectively and meet deadlines in a faced paced environment

· Ability to communicate clearly verbally and written, with good computer knowledge

· Willing to take on challenges and responsibilities with a pro-active, positive attitude

· Inventory and organizational skills

This position is offered as a full-time (average 50+ hrs/week), permanent position, year-round, Monday to Friday day-shifts. Flexibility is offered as this role can require some early starts, late finishes in peak season. Suitable applicant must have reliable transportation to and from work as public transportation is not available.
