General Manager

Reporting to the VP Business Operations, the General Manager will be accountable for the overall success and profitability of Penguin Meat Supply, a division of Centennial Foodservice. This will be achieved by leading the team in Surrey in all aspects of business operations. Duties include:

• Maintain a positive environment that enhances the employees’ work experience and job security; Lead by example and create an environment of leadership development
• Communicate performance standards to all staff and ensure they receive proper training, mentoring, and coaching to meet their goals
• Build a culture of continuous improvement
• Conduct performance reviews on all key employees to develop performance improvement plans; set new goals and discuss their concerns
• Keep employees informed of any changes to company policies, practices, and procedures
• Work with employees to ensure a strong culture of safety, quality, and cooperation
• Ensure all operating standards are achieved
• Work with leadership to Manage production, logistics, procurement, and warehousing
• Support the sales team and its objectives
• Develop and execute business plans, budgets, and forecasts
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting
• Champion and enforce the Code of Conduct and CFS policies and procedures
• Ensure adherence to CFS Health and Safety Programs and initiatives
• Ensure that standards for Quality, Sanitation and Food Safety are met or exceeded
• Be a Brand Champion, lead and support major customer interactions
• Lead Change and innovation to meet corporate objectives
• Other Duties as assigned

Qualifications

• 5-15 years progressive management experience, or; a combination of post-secondary education and experience will also be considered
• 5-15 years Food Industry experience preferred
• Strong leadership and organizational skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders
• Ability and willingness for intermittent travel
• Post-secondary Education in Commerce and or Business Administration considered an asset
• Lean Six Sigma experience considered an asset
• Excellent decision making and problem-solving skills required
• Intermediate (or higher) level computer skills required - MS Office, Enterprise Resource Planning Software
• Position location is Surrey, BC
