Job Summary
The Science, Information Technology, Engineering (SITE) Co-operative Education office at Dalhousie University is responsible for securing and managing quality work term opportunities for over 2000+ students annually in 25 Co-op and work-integrated learning (WIL) programs across the Faculties of Science, Computer Science and Engineering, Architecture and Planning as well as the College of Sustainability. Reporting to the Employer Development Manager, the Employer Liaison Specialist will provide administrative and service support for employers seeking to engage in the program by recruiting and hiring our Co-op/WIL students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide service and support for employer job posting activity during Co-op/WIL job competitions. Review employer postings to ensure requirements are complete and instructions are clear, following up with employers as required.
  • Determine application deadlines that best suit employer and student needs, and release postings in myCareer for student viewing. Process student application packages for employer review.
  • Follow-up with employers using prescribed processes to encourage scheduling student interviews. Facilitate interview schedules between employers and students. Maintain record of interviews in the calendar system in order to manage and coordinate room bookings.
  • Greet employer representatives on interview days, ensuring interviewers have everything needed for a professional, comfortable and productive interview.
  • Support the processing of employment offers and generate work term records in the system of record. Track and follow up with employers regarding job offers. Verify information accompanying offers of employment. Inform employers of recruiting outcomes, including options if preferred candidates are no longer available.
  • Work with the Employer Development Team to assist in delivery of employer services and related outreach activities, projects and tasks including support to events. Ensure records are complete and accurate in the co-op platform. Track and execute employer follow up processes.

Note
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

Required Qualifications
  • Business/Office Administrative diploma with approximately one to three years’ related client-facing experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) and on-line databases.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills while working with high volumes.

Assets
  • Experience in an academic setting or similar environment.
  • Experience in a co-op, work-integrated learning or career services environment.
