Description :
The Montréal West Island IUHSSC is currently looking for educators to fill part-time and full-time jobs at the Prévost Campus (in the Laurentians) of Batshaw Youth and Family Centres.

Are you looking to make a difference in the lives of youth, while working as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team? Then we want to hear from you!

As an educator within the Youth Directorate, you will provide the best possible care to teenagers aged 12 to 17, boys or girls, in difficulty and who have faced various trauma and issues related to neglect, sexual exploitation and violence among others. These young people are predominantly English-speaking and come from diverse backgrounds and communities (cultural, ethnic, LBGTQ2+, etc.).

As part of his/her duties, the educator:

  • Tends to the education and re-education of beneficiaries, within an institution, according to the programs established in collaboration with the existing professional team, in view of rehabilitation/reinsertion of the beneficiary into society;
  • Applies educational techniques by utilizing activities of daily living;
- Assists in the organization, development, and animation of program activities - such as modelling and teaching of life skills, emotional regulation, and anger management - in order to ensure learning and acquisition of adequate attitudes and behaviours;
  • Observes and analyses beneficiaries’ behaviour, participates in the assessment of their needs and abilities, records their progress in the appropriate documents, and establishes the beneficiary’s program of activities;
  • Supervises the teenagers while providing them with emotional support, and also manages crises.

Requirements :
Availability required: 3 days on 2 shifts (day and evening) and every other weekend
  • Day shift: 7:15 AM to 3 PM or 8 AM to 3:45 PM
  • Evening shift: 3 PM to 10:45 PM or 3:45 PM to 11:30 PM

The candidate sought:

  • Holds an ACS or DCS in an appropriate discipline (Special Care Counseling, Youth and Adult Correctional Intervention, Social Services, Child and Youth Work, Early Childhood Education) OR a Bachelor's degree in one of the following disciplines: Psychology, Sociology, Psychoeducation, Human Relations, Social Work, criminology;
  • Has relevant experience working with youth (asset);
  • Has relevant experience in crisis intervention/management (asset);
- Holds a valid driver's license and access to a car (required - mileage reimbursed).
