The UWindsor campus is home to a medical program offered by Western University’s Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Associate Director, Integrated Medical Education – Southwestern Ontario and the Associate Dean, Windsor Campus, the primary purpose of the position is to ensure the appropriate financial, administrative procedures and practices governing the Windsor Campus are in place and followed in accordance with the policies to allow the program to fulfil its mandate with respect to distributed medical education. The position manages and directs the staff throughout the Windsor Campus and maintains strong ties with the central campus (based in London, ON) to ensure consistent delivery of the medical curriculum and works in close partnership with Windsor-based faculty/physicians, medical students, residents and hospital personnel.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will possess:

· Honours degree in Business, Education, Human Resources, or Operations Management

· Seven (7) to ten (10) years management experience (HR, financial, administrative, operational)

· Seven (7) to ten (10) years supervisory experience (leading and excelling in teams)

· Experience in strategic planning, implementation and operationalization

· Excellent decision making, coaching, multi-tasking, organization, analysis and evaluation, leadership, conflict resolution and negotiation skills

· Excellent written and oral communication skills

· Collaboration and team orientation, and modeling and promoting team behaviours

· Managing conflict across multi-functional teams, with the ability to delegate and empower others

· High degree of tact, diplomacy and discretion in dealing with all confidential matters and sensitive issues

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Master’s Degree in Business, Education, Administration, or Health Care; Accounting and/or HR designation

· Experience in a unionized environment

· General knowledge/familiarity with Canadian university medical education program infrastructure

· Knowledge of collective agreement administration, university policies and procedures, hospital policies and procedures, Canadian medical education and health care delivery systems, and fund accounting

principles
