The daycare was created with a single mission: to provide a safe, clean and low-stress environment for small and medium dogs to socialize, play, learn and exercise to their hearts’ content.

emBARK originally started as an adventure dog walking business in 2009 but we have since taken our love and passion for dogs to the next level by opening the first daycare for small and medium dog breeds in Port Moody.

Job description

We are hiring for a full-time Dog Daycare Manager to join our growing team at emBARK Daycare. We are a dog daycare catering to small and medium breeds located in Port Moody, BC. We’re located steps away from Moody Station.

Our ideal candidates are individuals who have experience:

  • Managing high traffic dog daycare or dog boarding facilities
  • Managing a team of dog daycare assistants
  • Assessing and managing dog playgroups

Job Title: Dog Daycare Manager

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of a Dog Daycare Manager include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Training and supervising Doggy Daycare Assistants
  • Assessing new dogs
  • Supervising dog playgroups
  • Ensuring client database is up-to-date
  • Upkeeping the business premises and assets
  • Ordering supplies
  • Collecting payments from clients
  • Picking up after the dogs and cleaning the premises multiple times a day to ensure a safe and clean environment
  • Engaging in various play activities with the dogs
  • Controlling the dogs to maintain a calm environment
  • Opening the daycare in the morning (~6AM) and/or closing the daycare at the end of the day (~6:30PM) when required
  • Greeting customers, checking dogs in and out during drop-off and pick-up hours
  • Posting photos and videos on social media to engage with existing and prospective customers
  • Other tasks required by the Employer to ensure the business operates smoothly

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year experience managing high-traffic dog daycare or dog boarding facilities
  • Passionate about being part of a growing team that aims to provide the best customer service experience and the safest, happiest environment for the dogs
  • Strong attention to detail, strong communication skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Enjoy learning new skills and comfortable with passing on knowledge to others in the team
  • Love of dogs but must also be a people person
  • Strong desire to work with dogs to enrich their lives
  • Comfortable with flexible work schedule, including coming to work on short notice, changing work schedule when required
  • Ability to supervise a large dog playgroup while understanding different play styles to ensure a safe and stress-free environment for the dogs
  • Confidence in handling dogs and able to control large groups of dogs effectively
  • Assist with special projects (office tasks, organizing events, social media etc)
  • Qualifications related to dog handling/dog behaviour/dog first aid are highly preferred
  • Previous experience working with animals is an advantage
  • Experience in operating Gingr (kennel software) and Square (payment terminal) is an advantage.
  • Ability to take dogs home for overnight boarding on an ad-hoc basis is an advantage
  • Ability to stay overnight at the facility to monitor boarded dogs on an ad hoc basis is an advantage

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand and walk for long shifts with minimum break time

Ability to perform manual and repetitive tasks like picking up after the dogs, cleaning the facility and other tasks as required.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $19.00-$21.00 per hour
