Job Description
PURPOSE
This internship has been created to assist in identifying and addressing issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion at West Island College. To establish a baseline for West Island College as it relates to Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion and work with various stakeholders to create a roadmap for the College to follow that holds it accountable to growth and improvement.
This job is intended specifically for a student, aged 15-30, to gain summer work experience.
REPORTING
This role reports to the Director of Learning & Innovation and/or Head of School & CEO (holidays dependent). Work can be remote and in person, project depending.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research and collect current social demographics and issues at West Island College in collaboration with Guidance Counsellor & DEI committee
- Complete an audit to establish a baseline for DEI initiatives and metrics at West Island College
- Brainstorm creative content for workshops/panel discussions/learning series events
- Assist with the creation of presentations and other content for website, social media, etc.
- Work with students, staff, parents, and alumni through phone calls, virtual meetings, and in person
- Work with DEI Committee, Head of School, and student led DIPC to establish a roadmap for years 1-3 of improvement & initiatives with accompanying measures for growth and success
Job Type: Internship / Co-op
Contract length: 9 weeks
Salary: $15.00 per hour
