POSITION: Director of Care

Summary of Position

Reporting directly to the General Manager and the Vice President, the Director of Care (DOC) is to plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operation of our care department, overseeing the day to day and clinical care of the residents of the community in compliance with regulations. Working closely with the Resident Care Coordinator and the Clinical Care Team Lead, and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, assesses the care of the residents, ensuring that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure all levels of resident care and services meet licensing requirements and regulations;
• Ensure compliance, review and revisions of policies and procedures;
• Ability to conduct a complete investigation and deliver a conclusion and report;
• Facilitate and participate in the quality review process by Island Health.

Resident Care

• Lead the development, implementation, evaluation and revision of care related goals;
• Ensure that the level of care provided is in accordance to our Vision, Mission and Values;
• Oversee all aspects of Point Click Care;
• Assist in developing and maintaining best practice guidelines, protocols and education for skin and wound care, infection control, influenza and gastrointestinal outbreaks, violence prevention as well as other healthcare challenges that arise;
• Conduct Care Assessment and suitability on new admissions and assist with admission process and ongoing review of care levels and care plans;
• Develop, oversee and enforce the Medication Safety Program to ensure the safe and appropriate administration of medication.

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Current registration with BCCNP, a bachelor’s degree in nursing or equivalent experience and progressive nursing experience and education;
• Minimum of three years working experience in management;
• Minimum of three years in geriatrics or a combination of education and experience;
• Must maintain current CPR and First Aid certification;
• Knowledge of HR functions including staff management and engagement.

Please note: *A criminal record check is required pursuant to the Criminal Records Review Act for working with vulnerable seniors. TB test and proof of Covid-19 Vaccination are also required.

Salary: $100,000- $110,000 per year
