We are currently seeking a Communications Manager


Location: Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada


The Communications Manager will help articulate, share, and promote Tenaris’s mission and values to Canadian employees and the local Sault Ste. Marie community as well as other internal and external stakeholders.

Reporting to the Communications Senior Director, North America, and secondarily to the President of Tenaris in Canada, this professional should be highly motivated, independent, and passionate about deploying communications strategies that drive employee engagement and forge alignment with the company’s direction, while building a network of brand promoters in the community.


Regular domestic and international travel will be required.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage Tenaris’s integrated employee communications strategy, maintaining, evaluating, and building upon existing channels and tools while creating a strategic roadmap and measuring impact regularly.
  • Lead content production for the global intranet portal, the Tenaris in Canada Facebook page, and the quarterly shop floor magazine, ^North, as well as other tools/channels to be developed.
  • Counsel leadership on communications routines to create an engaged employee base while managing leader events (webcasts, town hall events, mill tours or visits) and supporting strategic conventions or meetings. Help local leaders deploy social media strategies for brand visibility, especially LinkedIn.
  • Working alongside the Media Relations team, support issues and crisis management communications. Contribute content to the Tenaris.com website and corporate social media channels.
  • Work in coordination with the corporate employee communications team to be able to deploy global campaigns customized for the Canadian audience.
  • Build an external team of vendors (writers, photographers, graphic designers) to effectively produce content. Create repeatable templates for use in future projects to drive efficiencies. Share best practices with the global team of communicators to encourage ongoing improvement.

Key Skills:

  • Excellent writing, editing, proofreading and presentation skills. Command of journalistic techniques to tell stories from a variety of perspectives/sources, making content resonant with key internal and external audiences.
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills to build relationships and coach colleagues and leaders.
  • Experience with social media management and content creation for LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and others.
  • Knowledge of video production (script writing and vendor guidance) as well as Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator a plus.
  • Ability to speak Spanish or Italian a plus.

Education/Experience:

  • A post-secondary degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related discipline is required
  • At least 5 years of experience in Communications or a similar role.
  • Experience in an industrial company or in energy an asset.
