Position Summary:

  • Assists in the development, organization and delivery of fundraising communications and marketing activities and ensures they conform to organizational standards and policies.
  • Collaborates with the Fund Development Team, volunteers, donors and community partners.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Communications and Marketing

  • Conduct an environmental scan of current fundraising communication infrastructure to identify gaps, challenges, and opportunities
  • Develop a fundraising communications strategy and framework incorporating achievable activities and approaches to increasing fundraising revenue
  • Ensure the communications strategy aligns to the Centre's strategic plan
  • Introduce new systems, technologies and assets to enhance communication reach with donors
  • Develop digital and hard copy assets including stories, videos, photos, and fundraising materials to connect donors with our cause
  • Develop, deliver, monitor and evaluate fundraising communications activities
  • Create metrics to evaluate communication plan impact
  • Ensure that fundraising activities are consistent with the Centre’s mission, vision, and values

Relationship Building

  • Help cultivate and steward relationships with individuals, volunteers, corporate and foundation donors, and partners
  • Assist in recognizing donors and volunteers using a variety of tools
  • Assist in identifying and establishing community partnerships which will result in support through sponsorships, promotion, in-kind support and/or donations
  • Assist in the development of fundraising event planning activities including all Centre events, community partnership events and third-party events
  • Assist with community events and presentations (speaking engagements, cheque announcements)
  • Be involved with community networks as appropriate to the role
  • Help to achieve annual fundraising targets

General/Administrative

  • Assist in developing metrics/gathering data to analyze annual fundraising performance and program growth
  • Ensure the maintenance and accuracy of comprehensive records in the fundraising development database, including cost analysis and evaluations
  • Provide information and updates of fundraising activities and revenues to appropriate staff members for meetings, newsletters, social media, and the website
  • Help to monitor and analyze communications and marketing trends in the region and industry to adapt fundraising strategies as necessary

Qualifications:

  • Post secondary education in a related field
  • Minimum 1 - 2 years related experience, ideally in the not-for-profit and/or communications and marketing sectors
  • Demonstrated knowledge of not-for-profit organizations is preferred
  • Proficiency with online resources, fundraising software, and Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams and database applications)
  • Demonstrated skills, understanding and knowledge of effective marketing and communication practices
  • Strong relationship building and community development skills
  • Highly motivated and creative
  • Resourceful and independent, but comfortable working within a team-oriented environment
  • Effective time management, organizational, and planning skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, communication, and presentation skills for a widely varied audience
  • Good judgement, tact, diplomacy and confidentiality

Job Requirements:

  • Occasional work from home (hybrid)
  • Clear criminal record check
  • Ability to travel, valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Regular travel within the Peterborough, City of Kawartha Lakes and Northumberland areas
  • Able to work on weekends and evenings as required
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (3 doses)
