Position: Communications and Marketing Assistant Summer Student

Summer 2023

8 Weeks (35 hours per week)The Marketing & Communications team is responsible for managing the Agencies' reputation and enhancing its visibility. The Communications and Marketing Assistant Summer Student plays an integral role in producing effective and responsive marketing and communications initiatives.

ABOUT YOU

You are a current student studying Communication Design or Graphic Design returning to school in September. You are eligible to work in Canada and can commit to 8 weeks this summer (35 hours per week). You are a team player with organizational superpowers, great interpersonal skills and a desire to learn. You are patient, kind and proactive, adept at anticipating needs and solving problems. You have excellent graphic design skills and a strong desire to serve your community and make a difference in people's lives through quality design. You are helpful and tech savvy. You are able to work with people from all walks of life with kindness and respect.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Marketing & Communications Coordinator, this role is responsible for the following:

• Supporting overall marketing and communications through a variety of channels, including internal channels, email newsletter, website and social media as well as media relations activities, event promotion and social media content generation.
• Collaborating with staff across the organization on committees and projects.
• Connecting with program staff to produce social media content to raise awareness of our programs and services.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Relevant post-secondary experience.

Excellent graphic design skills - Expert with Canva and Adobe Creative Suites experience is must.

• Excellent writing skills with a great appreciation to detail, tone and message.
• Thorough working knowledge of Office 365, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of charitable or non-profit environment working environments would be an advantage.
