Overview:

The Canada Customs Specialist (Footwear & Exports) will help drive the ongoing development of our best in class customs operations activities, processes, & internal controls. The individual in this role will facilitate compliant, reliable, efficient & expedient cross-border movement of goods acting as a subject matter expert, leveraging innovation to provide value to Nike & every athlete* (*if you have a body, you’re an athlete).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with Global Customs & footwear product teams to review new designs & ensure Nike Customs Systems* rules are appropriately configured to ensure compliance with CA requirements

  • Collaborate with Senior North America Footwear Customs Specialist (US) to educate product development & design engineers on design for duty

  • Collaborate with Global Customs & factory partners to ensure footwear measurement & attribute accuracy per CA requirements

  • Review & approve CA footwear classifications via worklist in Nike Customs Systems

  • Serve as lead footwear classification & duty expert for Nike Canada (develop, consult, educate)

  • Prepare & file CA Customs export documentation

  • Support Global Sports Marketing / Elite Client Services, DCs, major events, stock transfers, equipment moves, employees, etc. with their CA Customs export needs to ensure compliant & efficient transactions

Skills

  • Footwear classification & associated attribute identification & measurement

  • Understand & analyze current processes & recommend/define improved future state

  • Strong verbal & written communications skills including reporting, meeting facilitation, & presentations

  • Strong information seeking skills - Curiosity

  • Clearly articulate goals & objectives

  • Network, influence, & leverage internal & external resources

  • Recognize & work to understand challenges or underlying concerns, troubleshoot, & develop effective responses or escalate for resolution with recommendations as appropriate

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, International Trade, or related field

  • 2 to 3 years of experience within customs & trade, finance, internal audit, or a similar function in medium to large companies

  • Experience working directly with Canada Customs & other government agencies

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, International Trade, or related field

  • Current CCS / CTCS / other Customs certifications & designations

  • Experience in the customs & international trade industry, including but not limited to: Canada import/export regulations, policy & procedure development, customs system automation tools, extended first sale, duty exemption, customs audit management, & preferential trade programs

Travel:

  • Moderate travel (<5%)

Physical Requirements:

  • Required to sit / stand for long hours, must be able to prepare & conduct desk work, presentations & meeting
