Description:

The ODI Buyer (Our Designed Items) is responsible for parts and consumable purchasing for selected suppliers with specific responsibility for engineered to drawing items. Places orders within guidelines and interacts with supplier to ensure quality and performance measurements and goals are met. Audits suppliers for capabilities and compliance ability with company requirements. On the day-to-day, will be processing a lot of orders. However, will double-check the quotations produced by other members of the team and revise them if required by reaching out to other suppliers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Contact suppliers for requirements of manufactured parts.
• Prepares, issues and follows up on inquiries and purchase orders within ERP system.
• Monitor supplier performance on quality, costs, deliveries, and lead times.
• Responsible for improving quality and reducing costs on products purchased.
• Approve invoices for payment.
• Negotiate rebates on larger orders with suppliers. When the opportunity arises, could try to find CCC (Cost Competitive Country) to source cheaper options within KPIs.
• Maintain necessary records.
• Monitor process performance and competency to process requirements including those related to health and safety.
• This job has significant aspects and OH&S responsibilities requiring special care to prevent pollution and minimize safety risks.
• No supplier sourcing required. That is taken care of by someone else in the team.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

MUST HAVES

• 2-6 years in purchasing manufactured/engineered items.
• Read and interpret machining/fabrication/casting drawings.
• Strong written and verbal English abilities. Able to have basic conversations in French.
• Proficiency with MS Excel.
• ERP experience.

NICE TO HAVES

• Knowledge of castings, foundries, ASME, and gear drives.
• Knowledge of heavy manufacturing operations.
• Purchasing experience within a distributor or industrial supplier environment.
• Post secondary education in supply chain management, or engineering technology (Mechanical, Industrial or Aerospace).
