Building Operations supports an outstanding University experience through comprehensive operation, maintenance, and renovation services for buildings owned by Mount Royal University. About the Role

Reporting to the HVAC supervisor, Building Automation System Technician’s work as part of the Building Operation group within the Facilities Management department. The primary responsibilities of the position will be analyzing, programing, and troubleshooting automated building systems to ensure optimal performance.

This is a permanent full-time position working 7 hours per day.


Responsibilities

  • Daily monitoring, trending and scheduling of multiple buildings through Siemens and Honeywell building automation systems.
  • Retro-commissioning of existing HVAC, lighting and other related systems, determining optimal sequence of operations and implementation of sequence programming.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of energy management strategies to reduce utilities commodity consumption.
  • Assist building operators and trades in remote equipment operation and troubleshooting during maintenance and repairs.
  • Infrastructure upgrade project controls submittal reviews and operational turnover commissioning coordination.

Qualifications

  • Two year post-secondary certificate or diploma in a related technical field of work or journeyman ticket
  • Possess 5 to 8 years of related building automation and controls experience.
  • Experience in database, programming and graphic construction.
  • Knowledge and experience with Siemens and Honeywell operating system platforms.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, specification, and diagrams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Proven ability to work independently and within a team environment.
