What is the opportunity?

This position supports the market data needs for RBC Financial Group globally, including providing solutions and reviewing existing tools (and their associated costs). Market data provides the tools for revenue generation in multiple RBC businesses. For most RBC Enterprise businesses, market data is a critical dependency for revenue generation. Business partners are a demanding group of investment and risk management professionals who depend on timely and accurate market information for effective decision making. The role requires an astute business advisor and diplomat who understands not only the data, but also the business lines being served.

What will you do?

Contract Management

  • Become the global Market Data relationship manager, managing market data related contracts and negotiating best terms during contract reviews/new initiatives with savings and cost avoidance in mind.

Business Engagement

  • Become the key stakeholder to the global RBC Market Data user community, supporting all platforms on their Market data requirements
  • Collaborate with various internal RBC groups and peers to identify improvements or alternative approaches, and provide leadership on best practices and options on Market Data services

Supplier Management/Vendor Engagement

  • Engage with market data suppliers on a regular basis to review market data requirements, issues, changes, updates, etc.
  • Coordinate meetings or be an escalation point for Market Data Suppliers and the RBC Stakeholders
  • Ensure all market data suppliers adhere to internal supplier management and business continuity requirements; also ensuring all documents and related internal systems are updated accordingly; can involve working with various internal groups (ie Legal, Finance, Functions, etc)

Analytics/Reporting

  • Produce ad-hoc, monthly and quarterly detailed reporting/presentation decks with valued added commentary, analysis and metrics point of escalation/reference for the business line problems

Product Research/Industry Intelligence

  • Seek out sources and solutions for market data strategy per RBC business requirements
  • Research industry trends and provide guidance on alternative solutions or changes impacting market data. Participate in industry working groups to lobby for consistent policies across data provider community
  • Evaluate and review new market data products and providing recommendations on services or solutions for RBC Enterprise

What you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • University degree/MBA
  • 5+ years’ experience in a technology/financial services environment
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Advance proficiency in Excel, Word, and Powerpoint

Nice to-have

  • High level understanding of Market Data tools (MDM, FITS or similar) and control mechanisms (DACS, DART, EMRS) an asset.
  • Data Analysis
  • Reporting/dashboard experience with BI tools. i.e.) Tableau, Qlikview etc.
