Job Description

Assisting plumber:

• install domestic, commercial, or industrial plumbing systems and accessories
• Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes, and wall and floor fittings
• Cut on walls and floors to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings
• Measure, cut, bend and connect pipes with manual and electrical tools or machines
• Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement or welding equipment
• Check pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges
• Other tasks assigned by the Team Leader

Required Qualifications

• Good English with the ability to understand basic plumbing terminology
• Construction background work experience is considered an asset
• Familiarity with hand tools and power tools
• Construction experience is generally considered an asset
• Knowledge of occupational health and safety standards is desirable
• Knowledge of workplace safety and safe weightlifting and handling procedures is an asset

Required skills and competencies

• Motor coordination to position and secure sheets to metal and wood bolts and joists
• Familiarity with hand tools and drywall, and construction tools
• Work well independently and as part of a team
• Must be organized and able to keep the work area clean
• Integrity, good judgment, strong work ethic, courtesy to other team members
• Able to follow directions and ask when unsure
• Willing to learn and have an "I can do it" attitude
• Must be able to stand for most of the day if required
• Use proper lifting techniques for items weighing more than 25 kilograms
