Job Summary

The Ministry of Children and Family Development’s (MCFD) Strategic Planning and Engagement team is a dynamic, creative and resourceful group of individuals responsible for the ministry’s planning and reporting, internal communications, engagement and web services operations. The team works closely with Indigenous and non-Indigenous community partners, executive, ministry teams, senior leadership, change and project management on complex, highly sensitive cross-divisional projects, including the ministry’s transformation of services for children and youth with support needs, Indigenous jurisdiction, supports for youth and young adults leaving care, and improving the province’s network of care.

As a valued part of the team, the Senior Planning and Engagement Advisor leads, advises and guides ministry staff and teams in strategic communications and engagement projects and best practices. The successful applicant brings with them a positive outlook, proven experience managing complex and often sensitive communications projects, excellent written and verbal communications skills, issues management experience, and the ability to deliver quality products within tight timelines. Strong teambuilding and relationship skills are a must.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, public administration, communications or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience developing and delivering complex communications materials.
  • Experience independently managing and delivering complex and time sensitive projects.
  • Experience leading and/or working collaboratively with diverse teams.


Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Recent experience planning, consulting, creating and implementing communications and/or engagement initiatives.
  • Previous experience in a social ministry or organization.
  • Experience developing content for web platforms, preferably using CMS lite, Wordpress or Drupal.
  • Project Management Professional Designation.
  • Experience directing the work of others (professional employees and/or consultants).

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week as per the Telework Agreement.
