About the Position
This position provides advice and guidance to both the Territorial Candidates Secretary and Territorial Youth Secretary by researching and identifying trends in the church regarding children, youth, and young adults. This role has a dual purpose, to help define, understand, assess, and cultivate interest in exploring full time ministry within the Salvation Army and write relevant material to support engagement for children, youth and young adults in the Salvation Army as a whole. This role provides support in the areas of research, curriculum development, tools and resource creation for both the Candidates and Youth department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research
- Create and engage in relevant quantitative research with respect to trends in the church regarding children. Youth and Young adults, using focus groups around research target groups and one on one interviewing, along with any other relevant methods. This will be done in collaboration with the Territorial Candidates Secretary and the Candidates Department, Territorial Youth Secretary and the CANBDA Youth department.
- Review current research, summarize and create a report.
- Identify areas requiring improvement and provide potential strategies to make those improvements for both the Territorial Candidates Secretary and the Candidates Department, Territorial Youth Secretary and the CANBDA Youth department
Resource Creation
Youth
- Create relevant Bible study material, Deeper orange material (Sunday school)
- Work with curriculum experts to produce new resources and tools to support national resourcing package
- Writing content for monthly leadership training newsletter and video
- Contributing to the development of resource material for annual national event for children and families
Candidates (working in collaboration with the Candidates department)
Assist with the creation of the following resources.
- Advent and Lent studies
- Call and Commitment 2024
- Candidates ARC: resources for different spaces.
Resource material for Website: FAQ’s, history page (old campaigns, good news stories), glossary of terms
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Completion of high school diploma
- Working toward completion of a university degree in research, curriculum development or related field
- Up to one (1) year of related experience
- Experience working on a research project would be considered an asset.

Hours
This is a full-time contract position: 35 hours/week for 12 weeks.
