Job Title: 310T mechanic

Type: Full Time

Hours: 8 to 10-hr day

Reports to: Shop Lead

Essential Roles and Responsibilities

• Supervise and instruct apprentices with diagnostics, repair and maintenance of all vehicles and equipment
• Use a variety of service work order documents in order to track and monitor parts and supplies, document and record in detail the cost of repairs, parts, and labour of the corresponding unit
• Review shop safeties and necessary paperwork
• Maintain shop inventories of oil, grease, filters, consumables, and part supplies
• Problem solving skills
• Perform all aspects of repair on heavy and light commercial vehicle including all off road and related construction equipment
• Operate service truck equipped with a 6-ton crane, tools, welders, compressor, torches, and various pieces of lifting equipment used in aggregate and construction repair locally and all over Ontario
• Perform annual safety inspections on all commercial vehicles
• Perform detailed check list of components checks and to be serviced and repaired
• Price and order parts and shop supplies
• Diagnose engine related issues with computerized software and other related test equipment
• Inspect all equipment for cracks, defective or loose components
• Test drive all vehicles prior to safety and service for performance and vehicle fitness
• Demonstrate compliance to legislation that is pertinent to the safe, efficient, and legal operation of all types of vehicles on the highway system
• Liaise with management regarding repairs of equipment, estimate of costs and time frame of repairs

Qualifications and Experience

· Must be licensed Mechanic

· Must have a Driver’s License

· DZ or AZ license would be an asset

· Completed Ontario Colleges of Trades

· Completed apprenticeship training program

· Minimum 2 years’ experience with preventative maintenance on trucks

· Able to work well with others

Hours of Work

Hours are from 6am to 6pm from Monday to Friday. Hours of work is 8 hours a day with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. The work week will encompass working 40 to 44 hours a week depending on business needs.
