The Role: Youth Programs Summer Facilitator (8 Week Contract)
Trellis Society is seeking Youth Programs Summer Facilitator to join our team this summer through the Canada Summer Jobs program. This 8-week contract position will involve working 35 hours per week and providing quality summer work experiences for young people aged 15 to 30 years.

Tasks & Responsibilities:
  • The primary goal is to engage youth and provide them with a safe and supportive environment to learn new developmental skills, interact and build community with other peers, build cultural awareness, cultural connection, and enhance social, emotional, & experiential learning.
  • Create and conduct outreach and awareness raising presentations at schools, external committee meetings, and to community partners to advertise group youth programming offerings at Trellis.
  • Participate in external collaborative committees as they pertain to the Youth Strategy.
  • Support partnerships with youth serving agencies and foster collaboration across Trellis programs
  • Support the creation of program plans and curriculums that focus on Youth Programming core outcomes.
  • Facilitation of group programming.
  • Work in collaboration with other Trellis youth services on larger events and projects
  • Demonstrate leadership in anti-racism and reconciliation.
  • Promotion of programming via social media and external connections.
  • Deliver programs with a culturally aware and strength-based lens to facilitate self-sufficiency.
  • Be a liaison with families and/or natural supports.
  • Provide referrals and system navigation to other agencies services when appropriate and requested by program participants.
  • Other duties as required
What You’ll Bring to The Role:
  • Must be at least 18 years old and meet the Canadian Summer Job requirements
  • A degree or diploma or currently enrolled, or have a minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children, youth and families
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and ability to learn database systems
  • Concise and clear communication (verbal and written) and problem-solving skills
  • Up-to-date Standard First Aid and Level C CPR training
  • Ability to provide a Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector search and Child Intervention Record Check
  • Experience or in-depth understanding of Harm reduction and Trauma Informed Practice is considered an asset
Reporting Relationship:
This position directly reports to a Trellis Program Manager
