Winter Highway Maintenance Worker

Emil Anderson Maintenance (EAM) is the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure’s Road and bridge maintenance contractor for Service Area 7 (Fraser Valley).

Emil Anderson Maintenance | Fraser Valley is seeking applications for winter highway maintenance workers. Area 7 Fraser Valley includes Mission, Cultus Lake, Chilliwack, Rosedale, Agassiz, Hope, Boston Bar and Allison Pass. This is a seasonal, full time position consisting of operating plow trucks as well as manual labour. Multiple positions available.

Responsibilities:

• Removal of snow and ice by safely using snow removal and/or sanding equipment
• Completion of pre-trip and post trip inspections
• Changing snowplow blades
• Patching potholes and jackhammering
• Doing maintenance and minor service works on vehicles
• Digging out plugged drains, maintaining shrubbery, and picking up litter
• Any other duties as required

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience:

• Working safely is a condition of employment.

• Minimum class 3 with air brake endorsement
• Previous snow plowing and heavy equipment experience is an asset
• Willing to work days, nights, weekends and holidays
• O.T work required in the event of a snowstorm
• Clean drivers abstract
• Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
• Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisors
• Acknowledge this position can be labour intensive
• Willing to work outside in all weather conditions

Qualified applicants are required to provide current ICBC “N” drivers abstract along with their resume.
