Job Profile
The Welder operates welding equipment to weld ferrous and non-ferrous metals. A steady hand and attention to detail is important. Knowledge of different kinds of metals and their properties is essential.
Primary Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications
- Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments
- Operate submerged Arc welding equipment
- Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
- Operate brazing and soldering equipment
- Operate metal shaping machines
- Repair worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers
- Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
- Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements)
- Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
- Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
- Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
- Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws
- Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety

- Follow prescribed safety standards, rules and regulations
- Instill a safety culture; lead by example
- Identify and record non-conformities and participate in their resolution
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
- Recommend improvements and develop improvement plans in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions
- Maintain a well-organized and clean facility as per Prairie Machine vision
- Maintain all equipment and tools per recommended procedures
- Ability to work as a respectable, professional and efficient team member
- Maintain a healthy work environment and develop employees on a professional level
Qualifications
- Apprentice / Journeyperson or equivalent relevant experience
- Valid CWB certified
- 3+ years experience with Mig (steel)
- Experience with Tig, stainless steel & aluminum is an asset
Compensation
- Position pays approximately $48,000 to $80,000 yearly - salaries vary depending on various factors, such as skill, ability, experience and qualifications for the role
- Night shifts are eligible for a $4/hr premium
- Weekend shifts are subject to an 11% hourly wage premium
- Overtime may be available
Shifts Available
- Night Shift - 4 x 10 hour shifts Monday - Thursday
- Weekends - 3 x 12 hour shifts Friday - Sunday

Salary: $48,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
