A bit about us:
We are a busy coffee shop and bakery in East Van (1508 Nanaimo St) looking for experienced weekend baristas! Though we are a bakery, coffee is not an afterthought. We have high coffee standards and are looked for a senior barista to join our team. We use a Simonelli Appia machine and currently using Counterpart espresso beans (we will be rotating the beans every few months).

We are looking for two team members to join our team:

1. One barista to work both weekend days, Saturday and Sunday, 8 hours per day
2. A second barista to work just one day a week, 8 hours per day

We are looking for people who have a strong sense of urgency! Our goal is to serve customers quickly and we've had a lineup out the door, so must be very comfortable in a very fast-paced environment. Your duties would include but not be limited to:

- making all espresso drinks for customers (including matcha) - this requires a strong familiarity with all standard espresso beverages
- ability to main high coffee standards (we weigh the dry ground espresso mass to keep things consistent)
- comfortable with plant-based milks (we don't use cow milk)
- working the POS (we use Square system)
- strong familiarity with our baked goods (we offer about 15 different types per day)
- keeping the cafe tidy / emptying the dirty dish bin / dishes / putting clean dishes away
- assisting the baristas restock the mylk fridge / other supplies
- building pastry boxes / stamping cups and bags (you are supported by assistants)
- restocking creamer station and doing bathroom checks regularly

We are looking for something with:

• Positive attitude - you approach work in an optimistic way with a friendly attitude towards co-workers.
• Reliable and punctual - you show up for shifts on time, ready to work. If you are unable to work, you let us know well in advance or get your shift covered. You complete tasks in a timely manner.
• You take pride in your work - you like to see a job well done and ensure things are done according to our standards, even if no one is checking. You are constantly trying to improve your baking skills.
• You are comfortable taking direction - you can follow instructions and have a desire to learn and grow.

• has a flexible schedule and not needing a strict 8 hours a day (if it's slow, we offer a short day to one of the staff)
