The Opportunity:

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Warehouse Logistics Coordinator, to join the Smithers office in Northwestern, British Columbia.

This position is located at Newcrest’s Smithers Warehouse within the Supply & Logistics Department. The position’s primary report is to the Warehouse Supervisor.

This Warehouse Logistics Coordinator provides Supply Chain & Logistical support to Operational and Maintenance departments to ensure the timely delivery of parts and materials required to support production by maintaining a large satellite warehouse in Smithers B.C. containing critical spare parts and a stock of chemicals as required.

Manages the delivery of required parts and materials in accordance with a planned schedule and requested delivery.

Ensures the highest level of supplier performance in the form of consistent reliable delivery to Newcrest mine site operations in Northern BC.

Safely coordinate and schedule freight deliveries into the various sites and ensure a smooth efficient flow of traffic into all areas of the access road and mine.

Responsibilities

Perform following duties, with working safely being the number one priority:

  • Commit to and support the Newcrest NewSafe safety program; ensure a safety-first work culture; apply site safety standards, procedures, and policies.
  • Participate in site safety initiatives and support the agreed safety behaviours of the team.
  • Coordinate and schedule the transport of any items ensuring on time deliveries.
  • Coordinate the movement of orders of material and equipment from Smithers or other off-site locations to meet project requirements, including scheduling appropriate equipment / resources for handling.
  • Host / participate in weekly Logistics meetings with key stakeholders / departments to ensure logistical needs / requests are met.
  • Identify bottlenecks and resolve problems to speed up delivery of orders.
  • Arrange the movement of material (Inventory and Non-Stock) between various locations as required.
  • Maintain good relationships with vendors, end users, and contractors.
  • Keep accurate records.
  • Coordinate material movements from suppliers with Logistics Team and or freight forwarders, ensuring transport meets all relevant jurisdictional regulations / permitting, including TDG.
  • Provide prompt and efficient service and direct any enquiries to the appropriate department / person.
  • Produce weekly/monthly reports for inventory, freight management, bulk products etc.

About You:

  • Minimum 5 years Supply and Logistics experience in mining and/or a remote location.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience of expediting and/or procurement.
  • Knowledge and experience of managing logistics service providers.
  • Journeyman Parts certification is a strong asset.
  • Relevant certifications and/or experience in warehouse operation.
  • Ability to understand technical specifications of material and equipment.
  • Experience organizing / arranging TDG freight.
  • Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel).
  • JDE/SAP Experience an asset.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on shipment volume and priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer (end user) service skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Courteous, diplomatic, and able to work within tight response deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and proficiency with computers, particularly ERP systems.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Well-organized with multi-tasking abilities.
  • Ability to establish priorities and work independently.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements and procedures.
  • Ability to record and maintain daily records.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Able to pass a pre-employment medical screening.
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift.
