JOB POSTING – SHELTER TEAM LEAD

Agape House Eastman Crisis Centre Inc. has been providing essential services to Southeast Manitoba since 1985. As a charitable non-profit organization and one of 10 women’s shelters in Manitoba, we are proud to see an average of over 200 clients per year. We are committed to helping survivors of domestic violence make informed decisions that will assist them in leading lives free from abuse.

We are looking for a 0.60 FTE Shelter Team Lead to join our organization. If you an enthusiastic individual looking for meaningful and inspiring work, we would love to hear from you! The Shelter Team Lead will work a blend of evenings, weekends and day shifts for cross over with management.

In this role, you will:

Schedule and conduct shelter support team meetings

Handle on-boarding, training of shelter support staff

Provide day-to-day supervision and leadership to shelter support team

Oversee and provide shelter services to clients

Consult with shelter support staff to ensure roles and responsibilities are fulfilled

Scheduling responsibilities

Develop advocacy and outreach relationships with outside community agencies

Demonstrated awareness of current information and changes pertaining to gender-based violence from legislation and/or law enforcement.

Support the development of a strategic direction and operational plans that responds to emerging client and social needs,

You have:

Bachelor’s Degree in social work (or working towards it)

Human Resource and/or management experience is an asset

Proven awareness of the issues of domestic abuse and its affect on families and children

Clear understanding of confidentiality and supportive relationships

Demonstrated organizational skills and capability to work under minimal supervision

Effective communication skills and ability to work well within a team

Clear criminal record, adult, and child abuse registry checks

Excellent interpersonal skills and client-centered care philosophy

Conflict resolution or mediation experience/training would be an asset.
